This is a preliminary design package to assist you to size and cost your own dust extraction system. It is intended for preliminary design and budget costing only, with specific detailed design to be carried out by a design-the.com (or other recognised) professional.

The program consists of a main input window and a main output window,each of which leads to several sub-windows. The input sub-windows allow the layout of the system to be entered and this is then shown in diagramatic from in the main input window. The main output form then shows the layout, with pipe sizing and fan sizing parameters included. The output sub-windows show detailed views of the components to be used in the design and a budget costing for the design. It is important that all input data screens are reviewed to ensure the correct data is input prior to proceeding to the design stage.

In the next sections, clicking a button on an image will take you to a description of the function of that particular button.

This is the main input window that will be displayed when the program is first loaded.It consists of a large area (initially filled with a photograph of a typical system) wherea diagram of the system will appear once an extraction point has been added. The rest of the window consists of buttons that open sub-windows where the layout parameters of the system can be entered. Once all of the parameters have been specified, click the Calculate Design button in order to proceed to the main output window. The Load and Save buttons can be used at any time to save the current design or load a previous design.

This is the main output window that will be displayed when the Calculate Design button is pressed. The large area at the top contains a diagram of the system. This diagram only shows one extraction point at a time. Selecting a different extraction point from the Extraction Points/Take-Offs list will show that particular extraction point. The Fan Sizing Paramters section contains the fan sizing values calculated from the design you entered. The buttons at the bottom of the window allow access to detailed views of parts and to the budget cost estimate.
